Dr. Joan Hughes is an Associate Professor of Learning Technologies at The University of Texas at Austin and has 24 years of experience in educational technology field. Her research and teaching examines technology integration in teacher preparation programs and K-12 schools. She studies how teachers and K-12 students use technologies in-and-outside the classroom for learning and how school leaders support classroom technology integration. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology at Michigan State University in 2000 and was an elementary and middle school computer teacher in Silicon Valley in the early 1990s.
