Marisol Wong-Villacres is an Ecuadorian mother of two who also happens to be a Ph.D. student in Human-Centered Computing at Georgia Tech. Using ethnographic and participatory methods, in the last three years she has worked with Hispanic immigrant parents in envisioning technologies that facilitate their access to educational resources. In particular, she works towards an assets-based design of technologies that leverages parent's information-managing capacities rather than focusing on fixing their needs and deficits.

In her talk, she will walk us through the capacities that her participants have identified over her three-year research engagement. Moreover, she will present the design opportunities that these parents envision for the future of parent-education technologies.
