Bekir Mugayitoglu received his doctorate in Instructional Technology and Leadership from Duquesne University’s School of Education in 2016. While completing the program, he worked for Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Academy as a content developer of games that immersed students in computational thinking, robotics, and STEM-based investigations.
Dr. Mugayitoglu has also taught programming languages such as Python, Alice, Scratch, Hopscotch, Kodable, Code.org, ScratchJr, and ROBOTC at the undergraduate and K-12 level. Dr. Mugayitoglu worked at Robomatter, Inc., his research pursuits continue to focus on STEM education, computational thinking, the value of age-appropriate programming skills, and teaching educators how to value and integrate computational thinking practices into classrooms. Dr. Mugayitoglu’s passion is bringing programming and computational skills to every 21st century student.
His research, he launched STEM Family (https://www.stem.family/), a site that collects activities parents and teachers can use to train kids on computational thinking, design thinking, and systems thinking.
He is a contributing author of The Handbook of Research on Instructional Systems and Educational Technology.
